What’s in a catalog file?
A .lrcat file is Lightroom Classic’s record of your library. It contains directory paths to your photo files, camera settings, ratings, keywords, and editing instructions such as preset use and slider changes. Directory paths identify folders on your computer or drives, not the geographic places where you took the photos. Your original photo files are stored separately; they aren’t packed into the catalog.

Where do I find my catalog?
In Lightroom Classic, open Catalog Settings → General → Show. Close Lightroom, then choose the file ending in .lrcat. Unzip a catalog backup first. Photos, preview folders, and .lrcat-data files are not needed for this report. For a large library, use File → Export as Catalog with a smaller selection.
